1VS1 BULLDOG This drill teaches lose ball skills, aggressiveness and one-on-one skills.
The Assistant stands under the basket and has his team break into two lines (one on each side). He pass the ball down the middle of the court and the first player from each line race to the ball. No rules - players are encouraged to get on the floor and sell out to get the ball. Once one player gets the ball they play one-on-one back to the basket. If a player loses the race and gets scored on he runs a full suicide.
SETUP: form two teams: every player has the ball. Both teams are in line behind a cone in low post. Other 3 co- nes are put around the lane in diffe- rent positions, increasing the distan- ce from the basket.
GOAL: stand shooting from different positions.
DESCRIPTION: every player shoots once, gets his own rebound and co- mes back to line. The team has to score 4 baskets in a row (without er- rors) from the first position, then they move to the second cone. Team has to score 3 baskets in a row from the second cone, 2 in a row from the third cone, and only one shot from the last cone. Distance and difficulty increase at every cone.
GAME: the first team to complete the four positions wins the game. You can repeat the drill changing the posi- tions.
CORRECTIONS: focus on different details in shooting: ask the players to be squared (feet, shoulders, elbow, hand), legs into the shot. Follow through.
ATTACKING THE BASKET (WITH COACH: CROSSOVER DRIBBLE AND FINISHING)
SETUP: 2 lines of players for each basket at half court. Every player has one ball. Assistant coach (C) is in the circle at half court.
GOAL: cuts, crossover dribble, finishing at the rim.
DESCRIPTION: player 1 dribbles on his spot at half court. He passes to assistant coach (C) when he calls the ball. After passing, player 1 cuts to the 3 point line, gets the ball back, executes a crossover drive and drives to the basket using different kind of shots (lay up, power move, floater, reverse lay up, etc.).
